BRANDED PREMIUM WOODEN PENS

While visiting Hervey Bay on a family holiday Dave & Ash met Bryan Hope a local craftsmen, in which we collaborated our handcrafted pen merchandise. The woods chosen are of premium quality and  have a story behind both.

Silky Oak Wood - 

The Silky Oak (Grevillea robusta) is a very popular native tree in Australia and can grow to 20 metres and live for up to 100 years. It's bright golden-yellow flowers are actually flower heads made up of around 100 small flowers. The wood used in the pens came from a local farm situated between Toogoom and Hervey Bay. The trees had been bulldozed to clear land and were in a pile ready to be burnt when Bryan rescued the timber. 

Fraser Island Turpentine Satinay Wood - 

These pens are made from 100+ year old wood from pre WWll now a protected species of Fraser Island. In 1925 most of the island was set aside as state forest, loggers overlooked the trees as they were regarded too hard for hardwood and too soft for soft wood. Satinays main redeeming feature is its resistance to fire. The trees on Fraser Island are now over 1200 years old.
